Een Momentje, Maar Niet Een Eeuwigheid (2023)
What if we could look at the present moment as an image of the past? ‘Een Momentje, Maar Niet Een Eeuwigheid’ is a melancholic slice of life from the friendships that shape our lives as we navigate adulthood in a world that feels precariously close to the edge of collapse. In a time when genuine connections often feel distant, this project dives into the complexities of relationships—those that are deep and enduring versus those that are short-lived. Just for a night or a life-time. It invites us to reflect on who we choose to share our lives with, the bonds we forge, and the spaces we inhabit together, all while grappling with the uncertainties of our rapidly changing world.
Embracing the analog, the project is shot entirely on black and white film using a variety of formats. By turning away from the instant gratification of digital photography that we’re all used to. Through darkroom prints, the images are intentionally left unfixed, designed to fade over time as it is displayed. This temporary aspect serves as a reminder that, like friendships, some moments are not meant to last forever. This reinforces the idea that the connections we share—despite their finite—are meaningful and worth cherishing.
